The Powder Metallurgy Process

Powder Metallurgy (PM) is a manufacturing process that shapes a fine metal powder into desired forms and then bonds them through heating, without reaching the melting point of the powdered metal. The process starts with producing and mixing metal powder particles, tailored to specific properties, with additives for enhancement.

The next step involves pressing powdered metals under high pressure in a mold to create a 'green' part, which is fragile yet maintains the shape of the final product. Following compaction, the part undergoes sintering—where it is heated to bond the particles, significantly enhancing its strength. This powder forging technique is capable of producing complex shapes with minimal material waste, making it ideal for various applications in industries that require high precision components.
